Sharing your story

How publishing works

Write as much or as little as you like, add the topics that fit, and submit when it feels finished. Nothing is public while you work on it. A person on the review team reads every story before it goes live, so there is a wait between submitting and seeing it on the site. You can keep editing while it waits.

Writing anonymously

Every story has an anonymous option. Turn it on and your username never appears next to it, on the story itself or anywhere it is listed. You can decide per story, so an anonymous piece and one under your name can sit side by side.

What makes a story land

Specifics beat summary. The detail you remember, what was said, what surprised you, and how it actually felt at the time are what people read for. Give it a title that hints rather than explains, and pick topics honestly so the right readers find it.

Before you submit

Everyone in your story has to be an adult and has to have wanted to be there. Leave out real names and anything that would identify someone who did not agree to be written about. Links and web addresses are not allowed anywhere in the text. The community guidelines cover the rest.
